About

A founder-led program with one job: get this right, and get it to people.

NeuroClearance is an early-stage research and engineering program of NuvoNexus, led by an operator who has taken hard technology from invention to certified manufacturing and acquisition twice.

Mission

Solutions for the people who need them, in the safest and least expensive way possible.

Dementia affected 57 million people in 2021, more than 60 percent of them in low- and middle-income countries, and nearly 10 million new cases arrive every year. Parkinson’s affects more than 8.5 million. Behind each number is a family.

The science of how the brain maintains itself has reached the point where engineering can help answer whether those systems can be supported deliberately. We think the answer deserves rigorous, independent, published work, and that if it is yes, the solution should be designed from the first day to be affordable and reproducible, not to maximise margin.

That is the whole mission. We are not here to build a luxury device.

Who we are for

People living with or at risk of neurodegenerative disease and the people who care for them; clinicians and researchers who want better tools to study clearance; and partners who want to help build a safe, low-cost path from bench to access.

Founder

David Sherrer

David has founded and led hard-technology companies for more than two decades, specialising in taking novel physical technology from laboratory demonstration through certified manufacturing to acquisition.

  • Founded Nuvotronics in 2008 to commercialise PolyStrata®, a 3D additive microfabrication process for RF, microwave and millimetre-wave components developed under DARPA’s 3D-MERFS program. Cubic Corporation acquired Nuvotronics in March 2019 for approximately $64 million plus earn-out.
  • Earlier founded Haleos and ACT MicroDevices in wafer-level optoelectronic packaging, also taken through production to acquisition.
  • Named inventor on more than 120 issued and pending patents across those companies.
  • Led organisations holding ISO 9001 and AS9100D manufacturing certifications and delivering directly to U.S. government agencies and defence primes.
  • Also leads NuvoNexus, MacroVation and Helicon Defense, which share this program’s emphasis on evidence, trusted manufacturing and disciplined claims.

These are the founder’s prior-company results and are not NeuroClearance certifications, products or outcomes.

Why this problem, now

The brain’s waste-clearance system was described in 2012. Its sleep-driven pump was imaged in living humans in 2019. Aging was mapped into twelve measurable hallmarks in 2023. The first disease-modifying Alzheimer’s drugs and the first blood test arrived between 2023 and 2025. The science has reached questions that engineering can help answer, and the engineering required is exactly the kind of measured, controlled, safety-conscious hardware the founder’s teams have built before, in other fields.

Team

The program is currently founder-led with engineering support from the NuvoNexus and MacroVation teams and outside counsel. Scientific and clinical collaborators are being sought now; see get involved.

Discipline

What we do not claim.

A short list we will keep honest.

  1. We do not claim any NeuroClearance system treats, prevents or slows any disease.

No such evidence exists. Our first unit is a non-human bench instrument.

  2. We do not claim the published science is settled.

The human studies are recent and small. We summarise them with their limitations, and our reading guide explains how to weigh them.

  3. We do not publish designs, operating parameters, protocols or self-use instructions.

Our specific approach stays private until results are ready for review, and anything involving people belongs in supervised research under ethical oversight, not on a website.

  4. We do not give medical advice.

Anyone concerned about memory, movement or sleep should talk to a clinician. Please do not send us personal health information.

  5. We do not take ideas from the people who talk to us.

If you bring us a collaboration, your background and your work remain yours. We will say so in writing before any substantive discussion.
